The concept of a dashboard is intuitive to most adults— a simple display of top-level information and key performance indicators (KPIs)— and a well-designed dashboard take your data management to the next level.

On the dashboard in a car, the speedometer doesn’t display data used to calculate rate of motion, it just displays speed. It doesn’t display the places traveled since the last fill-up, it just displays how much gas is left.

A well-designed data dashboard is today’s answer for business professionals that need insight into the KPIs and other metrics for a project or even an entire business.

But there’s no “create dashboard” button in Excel.

Creating a meaningful dashboard requires combining various functions in Excel like formulas, pivot tables, charts, sparklines, conditional formatting, lookup, and more.

Sound overwhelming? It doesn’t have to be. This webinar will walk through the steps of creating a powerful dashboard that displays big-picture metrics across multiple data sources.

Attendees may find it helpful to have a basic understanding of Excel functions like pivot tables and conditional formatting, but it is not required for this session. The presenter will provide a quick, basic review of each function used to create the dashboard.

      This webinar will be delivered using Excel 2016 for Windows. However, much of the functionality is available in Excel 2013 and 2010 and 2016 for Mac.

      Mike Thomas has worked in the IT training business since 1989. He is a subject matter expert in a range of technologies including Microsoft Office and Apple Mac. He has recorded several Excel training courses for pluralsight.com and in his career delivered hundreds of courses and webinars on a wide variety of technology-related topics.

      Mike is a Fellow of The Learning and Performance Institute and has worked with and for a large number of global and UK-based companies and organizations across a diverse range of sectors. In addition to training, he also designs and develops Microsoft Office-based solutions that automate key business tasks and processes.
